Anthony Stevenson, 46, of Waterbury, was busted around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after officers attempted to stop him for an equipment violation, state police said.
But instead of stopping, Stevenson continued to drive, engaging police in a pursuit that continued for a short distance, finally stopping on Ayer Street in the City of Waterbury, police said.
While investigators were investigating the incident they uncovered a bag of cocaine.
Stevenson was charged with reckless endangerment, engaging police in a pursuit, driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle, misuse of a license plate, driving without insurance, driving a vehicle with an illegal tint, and possession of a controlled substance.
He is being held on $20,000 bond.
